Mureka is a web, app and API platform for generating songs and instrumentals from prompts or lyrics, then extending, remixing, editing and separating the result for further production. Its current subscription page promotes V9.5 alongside earlier V9, V8 and O2 models, Mureka Studio, Mureka Co for DAW-oriented workflows, reference audio, region editing, remixing, up-to-12-stem splitting, vocal IDs and MIDI/WAV export on higher tiers.
That breadth does not make every generated song release-ready. A public example proves only that one output passed someone’s taste filter. A usable master still needs lyric, melody, performance, artifact, similarity, rights, plan and distributor review. Mureka’s own 2026 Terms say outputs may resemble other work, may not qualify for copyright registration and require users to have rights to uploaded recordings, lyrics, music, voice and likeness.

Web membership, mobile availability and the developer API are related but not interchangeable products. The API FAQ explicitly says website membership/credits and API billing are separate. App-store availability, model choices, exports and advanced editing may differ by device, region and plan. Before buying, sign in on the intended platform and capture the checkout feature matrix, Gold/credit rules, taxes, renewal date, cancellation path and export formats.

No fixed Mureka consumer price is quoted here because the live plan page is personalized and its crawlable content does not expose a complete price table, while other Mureka landing pages show older plan names and amounts. The authoritative number is the final checkout shown to the signed-in account on the purchase date. Reviewed 2026-08-20: current site names Free, Pro and Premier and advertises 20% yearly savings, but exact currency, tax, Gold and feature allocation must be rechecked.
The May 2026 Terms describe auto-renewing monthly or annual subscriptions, cancellation through the applicable App Store, Google Play or Stripe route at least 24 hours before period end, and prices that may change. Gold/credits are service units, not cash. Track cost per accepted master, not per click: include discarded variants, extensions, edits, stem operations and human mix time.
Rights: paid ownership is not clearance
Under the Terms effective May 13, 2026, paid subscribers or users who purchased credits receive Mureka’s ownership, title and interest in the generated Output, including any intellectual-property rights that may exist. Free-tier Output is owned by Mureka and licensed only for lawful internal non-commercial use with attribution. Paid ownership is meaningful, but the same Terms say copyright registration is not guaranteed and output uniqueness is not guaranteed.
Mureka also receives a broad, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use Output. User Content receives a broad license too, and the Terms tell users not to transmit content they consider confidential or proprietary. Before uploading an unreleased demo, client brief, label catalog or biometric voice, legal/security teams should review that grant rather than relying on a generic “private project” assumption.

Avoid prompts naming living artists or asking for an identifiable singer imitation. Describe musical attributes—tempo, meter, instrumentation, production era, vocal register, energy and arrangement—without trading on identity. Run melody, lyric phrase and voice-similarity review before distribution. Similarity tools are triage, not legal clearance; a knowledgeable human must listen to flagged material.
From idea to a release candidate
- Write a measurable brief.Define purpose, audience, language, duration, structure, energy curve, must-have instruments, prohibited references and delivery format.
- Clear inputs first.Record lyric/composition ownership, contributor splits, reference license and explicit voice consent before upload.

Evaluate at least 20–30 briefs representing the intended catalog, with repeats for stochastic variance. Include difficult languages, fast lyrics, sparse arrangements, tempo changes, key changes, long builds and endings. Do not report a public sample’s likes or a vendor adjective such as “studio quality” as a benchmark. Mureka publishes feature claims, not a controlled cross-vendor listening study that proves universal superiority.
Privacy and voice safety
The linked Privacy Policy says Mureka may process uploaded reference audio and voice data to reproduce distinctive vocal features; users confirm they hold needed rights. It also describes collection of prompts, UGC, device/usage data and international processing, including US servers and other jurisdictions. It says data is kept as necessary for business/legal needs and later deleted or anonymized, but does not give one universal retention period for uploaded music or voice.
For a confidential release, obtain a written answer covering input/output retention, training or product-improvement use, human access, subprocessors, storage region, deletion SLA, backups and incident handling. Use a dedicated account, least-privilege sharing and synthetic references during evaluation. Publishing UGC changes exposure; revoking later may not undo uses already made before revocation.

Independent judgment:Mureka is attractive when one workspace must move from song idea through vocal/reference generation to targeted edits and stem export. Its weakest assumption is that “commercial rights” solves release risk. The safer buying criterion is not which demo sounds most finished; it is which platform gives the team controllable revision, an acceptable input/output license, evidence retention and predictable cost per approved master. For sensitive voices or proprietary catalogs, self-hosted Stable Audio or a conventional commissioned workflow may offer a clearer boundary, even if it requires more production work.
FAQ
Can free Mureka songs be monetized?
Not under the May 2026 Terms. Mureka owns free-tier Output and grants lawful internal, non-commercial use with attribution. Create the intended commercial version while eligible under a paid plan or paid credits, and retain proof.
Do paid users own their output?
The Terms assign Mureka’s interest in paid Output to the user, but do not guarantee uniqueness, copyright registration or clearance of user-supplied material. Mureka also receives a broad license to Output.
Can I upload any song as a reference?
No. You must have rights that cover upload, analysis and the intended transformation. Buying or streaming a track is not normally that permission. Use your own recording, commissioned material or specifically licensed references.
Can Mureka clone a singer?
The API can create a Vocal ID from a 15–30 second sample, and higher-tier marketing promotes broad voice use. Obtain explicit performer consent and publicity/personality permissions; do not imitate someone merely because a recording is available.
Are stems the original multitracks?
No. They are separated estimates from a mixed result. Expect leakage, missing ambience and phase issues. Solo, sum and time-align them before relying on a stem mix.
What does Mureka cost?
Check the signed-in checkout. The current plan page names Free, Pro and Premier, but exact regional price, tax, Gold, renewals and features can change. API billing is separate from web membership.
Can output be copyrighted?
Possibly, depending on jurisdiction and human authorship, but Mureka expressly does not guarantee registration. Document human lyrics, arrangement, performance, editing and other contributions, then consult the relevant office or counsel.
Does a good Mureka example prove quality?
No. Showcase selection hides failed generations and editing. Run blind, repeated tests on the intended genres, languages and rights constraints, and measure accepted-master cost.
